LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Monday that Canadian international Mark-Anthony Kaye had been transferred to Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kaye spent the past two seasons with Louisville, making 50 appearances across all competitions for the club. This past year he played a key role as the club claimed the USL Cup for the first time, scoring four goals and adding one assist while recording 21 key passes.

“We’re obviously really pleased that Mark-Anthony has been able to get this opportunity,” said Louisville Head Coach James O’Connor. “He’s worked very hard throughout his time here and I think it’s important that we thank him for all his efforts. He’s a great young man and is someone we hope goes on to have a long and successful career in MLS.”

“Mark-Anthony is an exciting player who has shown creativity and good football both at Louisville City and at the international level,” said LAFC Head Coach Bob Bradley. “He gives our club another talented option as we build our roster for the season.”

The 23-year-old has made 79 appearances overall in the USL, having previously competed for Toronto FC II before joining Louisville ahead of the 2016 season. This past year Kaye earned his first selection to the Canada Men’s National Team, including being part of the country’s squad for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

“Mark-Anthony is a promising young player with great potential and versatility,” said LAFC EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager John Thorrington. “We look forward to integrating him into the group as we believe he can become a significant contributor to our team immediately.”
