INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven announced on Wednesday it had re-signed forward Justin Braun for his third season with the club as new Head Coach Martin Rennie began building his squad for the 2018 USL season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Braun has been a mainstay with Indy Eleven since the 2016 campaign, scoring 15 goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances for the club. The powerful forward led Indy in goals and assists in the 2017 season before an ankle injury saw him sidelined late in the year.

“I love playing in front of the best soccer fans in North America and I’m looking forward to coming back stronger and healthier to help the team succeed in the USL,” said Braun. “I’m grateful to the medical and training staff that has made my recovery possible.”

Braun had previously played for Sacramento Republic FC, where he notched 12 goals and one assist in 43 regular-season contests for the club. The 30-year-old was part of the Republic FC side that claimed the USL Cup in the 2014 season and has proven a consistent attacking threat over the past four seasons.

“I’m very happy to announce the signing of Justin Braun,” said Rennie said. “Justin is a dynamic striker that brings a great work ethic and goal scoring threat to our team.”

Prior to signing with Sacramento, Braun made more than 130 appearances in Major League Soccer, where he scored 26 goals and added 15 assists across spells with Chivas USA, the Montreal Impact, Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC.
