TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC added experience to its midfield on Monday with the acquisition of Jamaican international Michael Binns for the upcoming USL season, pending league and federation approval.

Binns made five appearances for Jamaica at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, helping the team reach the final for the second consecutive tournament before the Reggae Boyz fell in the final to the United States. Binns has made 18 appearances overall for the national team.

“Michael is a very dynamic player who can play as a No. 6 or No. 8 on the left side,” said Roughnecks Head Coach David Vaudreuil. “His high-level performance for Jamaica in Copa America and the Gold Cup will be important as we look to bring in more talent and experience.”

Binns is currently training with the Jamaican national side and is expected to represent the Reggae Boyz on January 30 in a friendly match against South Korea that will be played in Turkey.

The 29-year-old featured most recently for Portmore United, and brings experience from the USL, having made nine appearances for Wilmington Hammerheads FC in the 2016 season.
