Tulsa, OK - The Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. announced today that they have come to terms with Northeastern State University Alum Terence Smith, pending league and federation approval. The 26-year-old Canadian defender will come to Tulsa after being a part of some of the best defenses in the history of NSU.

Scouts describe the 6’ 4” Smith as a big, strong old-fashioned center back. He is good in the air and on the ball and does well on his angles.

During his time at NSU, Smith was a four-year letter winner, was First Team All-MIAA twice, and was named Daktronics First Team All Central Region twice. He was also a part of three teams that broke the school record for fewest goals allowed in three consecutive years. In 2014, the Smith-led defense helped bring NSU to the first and only undefeated conference season and MIAA tournament conference title.

In 2016, the defender played locally with the Tulsa Athletic in the NPSL. After that season, Smith was invited to play with a few different teams in the second division of Mexico.

Prior to coming to Oklahoma, Smith came up through the Toronto Lynx Academy in the Premier Development League. He played on the Lynx U-20 team that made it to the championship finals.

Smith spent time last season training with the Roughnecks and impressed TRFC Head Coach David Vaudreuil, resulting in his becoming a full member of the squad for 2018.
