RENO, Nev. – For a second consecutive year, Reno 1868 FC will play a preseason exhibition against its MLS affiliate, the San Jose Earthquakes, with the USL club set to make the trip to Avaya Stadium for the first time in its history on Feb. 10 for a 2 p.m. PT kickoff.

1868 FC entered a hybrid partnership with the Quakes ahead of its inaugural season last year, with the dividends of the agreement paying off both on the field as Reno reached the USL Cup Playoffs after a record-setting season and this offseason as three players – Jimmy Ockford, Luis Felipe Fernandes and 2017 USL Rookie of the Year Chris Wehan – became the first to sign with the Quakes through the partnership.

“This exciting friendly is the next step in establishing the strongest USL/MLS partnership in the United States,” Reno president Eric Edelstein said. “We hope our fans will join us in making the trek over the hill to celebrate soccer with the Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium.”

Last season, it was the Quakes that made their way to Reno and captured a narrow 1-0 win at Greater Nevada Field. Earthquakes midfielder Tommy Thompson scored a back-heel that made ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.
