SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC announced on Wednesday it would host 2018 MLS expansion side Los Angeles FC at Papa Murphy’s Park on Feb. 25 in a preseason exhibition that will mark the first meeting between the two clubs. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PT.

The contest will be LAFC’s final preseason match before it begins its inaugural season in Major League Soccer, and could be the first of many between LAFC and Republic FC that will continue to raise the rivalry between the two cities and its passionate fans.

Fans have the opportunity to sign-up for early access to tickets and an exclusive presale at sacrepublicfc.com/lafc-friendly. Tickets for groups of fifteen or more are on sale and may be secured by calling (916) 307-6100. The exhibition is part of the 2018 Republic FC season ticket package. Single match tickets will be available at a date to be announced.

LAFC has already made multiple announcements, including securing former U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bob Bradley to lead its squad into its inaugural season and the signing of Mexico National Team forward Carlos Vela. The club is currently in the final months of construction on the 22,000-seat Banc of California Stadium in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.

The exhibition will serve as one of Republic FC’s first preseason matches before the club’s 2018 USL season.  Republic FC has played MLS clubs in each of its four preseasons, facing the San Jose Earthquakes and the Colorado Rapids in past seasons. The club has also played MLS sides LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
