The leader in field covers becomes the Official Turf Protection Supplier in multi-year deal

TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer Leagues, LLC, continued the growth of its Preferred Supplier Program today with the announcement of a multi-year partnership with Terraplas USA, a division of Checkers Safety Group UK, to become the organization’s Official Turf Protection Supplier. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Terraplas will be an official supplier for all related properties, including the United Soccer League – one of the most prominent Division II professional leagues in the world – USL’s Division III, the Premier Development League (PDL) and the Super Y League.

Founded in 1994, Terraplas has become an industry leader throughout North America. Its first partnership was struck with the National Football League’s New England Patriots, and since then, it has partnered with organizations across the NFL, Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball. Worldwide, 11.5 million square feet of Terraplas products have been sold, with approximately three million square feet of that amount in the United States alone, including 70,000 square feet owned by the USL’s Tampa Bay Rowdies.

“We are thrilled to have partnered with Terraplas USA as our Official Turf Protection Supplier,” said USL President Jake Edwards. “As our clubs expand their business operations, hosting ancillary events within their venues is a key driver of new revenue that will continue their growth off the field and allow for greater investment. Whether holding concerts, graduations or any other type of event, Terraplas products lead the industry and will give our teams peace of mind that the integrity of the field will be maintained to provide optimal year-round playing conditions for their teams.”

“Terraplas USA is excited to partner with the United Soccer League and insure its member teams and their respective stadiums have the best turf protection products on the market,” added Michael Beane, Director of Sales for Terraplas USA and the founder of the company. “Terraplas will be working actively with the USL to help develop a number of events that can be hosted by USL members where income can be generated when their teams are playing away, and at the same time, protecting those same playing pitches at the highest level. ‘Protecting your turf as if it were our own’ is more than a company motto for Terraplas USA, it is the way we conduct our business.”

Over the next five years, the USL will oversee the expansion of an estimated 30–40 new franchises at the second and third divisions of professional soccer, creating numerous opportunities for potential suppliers and vendors to support this growth.

Through its Preferred Supplier Program, the USL will connect suppliers with both new franchise owners and existing USL clubs looking to deliver the best possible experience for fans. Preferred suppliers must meet the USL’s strict quality standards. These are “Best in Class” companies that provide services and products to professional franchises and stadium developers. The USL is currently in discussions with suppliers that support stadium development, as well as the buildout of team front offices and operations.
