CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati added to its forward line on Wednesday with the signing of Guyana international Emery Welshman for the 2018 USL season. Formerly of both Real Monarchs SLC and Real Salt Lake, Welshman had five goals and three assists a season ago for Puerto Rico FC.

“Emery has exceptional pace and a nose for goal,” FCC Head Coach Alan Koch said. “He is a player who has had a few setbacks with injury, but when at his best, he has the ability to play in MLS. He has not peaked yet and we look forward to working with him to help achieve mutual goals. He is a fantastic citizen and will fit in fantastically with the group that we are putting in place for 2018.”

Welshman joins an attacking group that previously saw the addition of Tommy Heinemann this offseason to returning standout Danni König. The 26-year-old notched six goals for the Monarchs in the 2015 USL season, earning an MLS deal with RSL in then process, and has also scored three goals in six appearances for Guyana on the international stage.

PARTAIN STAYS IN SACRAMENTO: Sacramento Republic FC announced it had re-signed midfielder Hayden Partain for the new season, with the former PDL standout having impressed after joining the club midseason in 2017.

Partain made 11 appearances for Republic FC, and scored his first professional goal against regional rival Reno 1868 FC. The former Des Moines Menace midfielder had a passing accuracy rate of 81.5 percent on 31.9 passes per 90 minutes, and won 17 of 22 tackles defensively.

“We feel there is much more to come from Hayden as a player,” said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. “He is a hard-working player that is willing to learn and that showed last season.  In his limited time with the club, he demonstrated the talent that he possesses and we are excited for him to grow as a player again this upcoming season.”

RANGERS SNAG REBELLON: The Swope Park Rangers have signed former LA Galaxy II midfielder Bryam Rebellon as the defending Western Conference champion continues to build its squad for the new year.

A native of Colombia, Rebellon made 25 appearances for Los Dos in the 2016 USL season to help the side reach the USL Cup Playoffs, where he started against the Rangers in the Western Conference Quarterfinal between the two sides. This past season the 25-year-old made 23 appearances for Jacksonville Armada FC, where he recorded one assist.
