FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Football Club made a major addition to its midfield on Friday as the club unveiled former Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC player Rony Argueta as its seventh signing ahead of its inaugural season in the USL. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

The 26-year-old Argueta has spent the past three seasons with the Switchbacks, and served as team captain for the 2017 season as he appeared in 31 regular-season contests. Argueta made 86 appearances over his three seasons with Colorado Springs, and this past season led the side with 65 tackles and recorded 58 interceptions.

“Rony is a player that I’ve watched since his time with Ventura County Fusion, so I know a lot about his character,” said Fresno FC Head Coach Adam Smith. “You know exactly what you’re going to get from Rony. There’s going to be a high level of consistency, which has been proven by his performance over three seasons at Colorado Springs. I think he’s going to be very solid for us in the midfield.”

Argueta joins Mickey Daly, Agustin Cazarez, Christian Chaney, Sean Melvin, Terran Campbell and Matthew Baldisimo on the Foxes’ roster.
