PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Thursday it had signed 2017 USL All-League selection Billy Forbes for the 2018 season. Forbes recorded a breakout year with San Antonio FC in 2017, leading the club with 10 goals and nine assists as the side finished second in the USL’s Western Conference.

“I can’t wait to get to Phoenix to learn under the technical staff and play alongside Didier Drogba and the rest of my teammates,” Forbes said. “I look forward to playing in front of the fans of Phoenix and bringing a trophy to the desert.”

Forbes earned USL Player of the Month for March/April in 2017 as he led San Antonio on a 14-game undefeated streak to start the regular season. He is the second offseason addition to arrive in Phoenix from SAFC following the signing of midfielder Devin Vega on Wednesday.

The Turks & Caicos international had previously played for three seasons with the San Antonio Scorpions and Rayo OKC, where he recorded 12 goals and 19 assists between the two clubs. A former Premier Development League standout with the Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors and Mississippi Brilla, Forbes scored his first international goal for his country in 2015 in a CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying contest against St. Kitts & Nevis.
