PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds announced on Wednesday it had signed key midfielder Kevin Kerr to a new one-year deal with a club option for the 2019 season that will see the former USL All-League selection enter his sixth season with the club in 2018. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Kerr, 28, has served as the Riverhounds’ captain the past two years and ranks third all-time in club history with 132 appearances and seventh in goals scored with 22. This past season Kerr appeared in every game of the USL regular season and recorded 61 key passes in addition to three goals and five assists on the year.

“We’re excited to have Kevin back in the fold,” said Riverhounds Head Coach Bob Lilley. “He’s consistently been one of the better playmakers and passers in our league over the past four to five years bringing experience, leadership and a work ethic that I think is important for our younger players to look up to.”

In each of his five seasons with the Hounds, Kerr has played in no less than 20 games, including eclipsing 2,300 minutes the past two years. In addition, he’s tallied 20 assists – the second-most by a Hounds player dating back to 2013 – to go along with his 22 career goals. In 2015, Kerr was named to the USL All-League Second Team as he led the Riverhounds to their most recent visit to the USL Cup Playoffs.
