PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Wednesday the addition of former San Antonio FC midfielder Devin Vega for the 2018 USL season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

“I am humbled for this opportunity and can’t wait to get to Phoenix and learn from the technical staff,” said Vega. “I look forward to meeting our fans and playing in front of them. The 2018 season can’t get here soon enough.”

A San Antonio native, Vega signed his first professional contract with SAFC last January, and recorded 14 appearances in his rookie season while notching three goals and two assists. A former member of the FC Dallas Academy, where he claimed the 2016 U17/18 USSDA National Championship, Vega showed poise on the ball in his first professional year with 13 key passes and an 81.9 pass success rate on 32.8 passes per 90 minutes in the 2017 season.

Vega has also represented the United States on the international stage, competing for the U17 National Team alongside current U.S. international Christian Pulisic and another pair of players who began their careers in the USL in Pierre da Silva (Orlando City B) and Hugo Arellano (LA Galaxy II) as it claimed the 2014 Aegean Cup in Turkey.
