ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Saint Louis FC announced another pair of additions for the 2018 USL regular season on Tuesday, with former Orlando City B midfielder and former Real Monarchs SLC defender Phanuel Kavita joining he club. Both signings are pending league and federation approval.

Martz has made 56 appearances in the USL over the past two seasons, and this past year recorded two goals and two assists for Orlando City B. The 25-year-old will be reunited with new Saint Louis Head Coach Anthony Pulis, who is looking forward to having Martz as part of his squad.

“Austin is someone I know very well from my time at Orlando City B,” said Pulis. “He is extremely explosive and a quick threat on offense that should trouble defenders. He is also a great guy with a working attitude that should fit in nicely with the squad we are building.”

Martz previously played for Wilmington Hammerheads FC, where he helped the side reach the Fourth Round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as he scored a hat trick in the club’s second-round victory against Miami Fusion. He also found the net four times in league action for the club.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this club,” said Martz. “It’s exciting to have an opportunity to work with coach Pulis again because I wholeheartedly believe in his core beliefs as a football coach and person. As soon as I signed, I read about the history of the club and noticed the five values of Unity, Humility, Passion, Respect, and Tradition. To me, it’s noticeable how much the community gets behind these values and this is definitely a community I want to be a part of and play for. I feel extremely grateful and I’m ready to get started.”

Kavita made 38 appearances for the Monarchs across two seasons before spending the past year with Puerto Rico FC. A former member of the RSL Academy, Kavita made 27 appearances for PRFC in the 2017 season, and brings experience and athleticism to the Saint Louis back line.

“Phanuel is a very athletic defender who is quick, strong, and powerful,” said Pulis. “He comes from a good pedigree at the Real Salt Lake Academy and he is very hungry and constantly looking to improve. I’m absolutely delighted to have signed him and look forward to the attributes he will bring to the defense.”
