ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Saint Louis FC announced on Saturday it had signed former Louisville City FC defender Sean Reynolds. The signing is pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.

A member of the 2017 USL Cup winners, Reynolds made 64 appearances over the past three seasons for Louisville. This past year, Reynolds won 18 of 25 tackles and recorded 33 interceptions and 76 clearances defensively as Louisville posted the second-best defensive record in the USL.

“I’m very happy and excited about coming to STLFC,” said Reynolds. “I’ve known [Anthony] since 2012 when he was playing for Orlando City. When he called and said he wanted me to be a part of what he’s trying to build, I wholeheartedly believed in his vision. I also have family in the St. Louis area who I’ve never been able to spend a lot of time with, so that’s a huge plus for me outside of the football realm.”

Prior to turning professional, Reynolds competed for Orlando City U23 in the PDL in 2012, following prior stops with the Baton Rouge Capitals in 2009 and the Thunder Bay Chill in 2011. Reynolds also competed collegiately for the University of West Florida where he was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Year in 2011.

“Sean is someone who has impressed me immensely every time I’ve watched him for Louisville,” said Saint Louis Head Coach Anthony Pulis. “He is a very good one-versus-one defender, possesses great pace and is good in the air.  More importantly, he has a fantastic attitude and is a real competitor with a hunger to keep improving.  He is another excellent acquisition for us as we continue to build our roster for 2018.”

Reynolds is the second offseason addition to Saint Louis’ squad, following that of two-time USL Golden Glove-winner Tomas Gomez.
