Annual event opened Wednesday with meeting of Board of Governors

TAMPA, Fla. – The 2017 USL Winter Summit opened on Wednesday as the league’s executives welcomed member clubs and league partners for three days of meetings in downtown Tampa.

The event opened with the assembly of the USL Board of Governors, bringing together club leadership to hear from USL Chief Executive Officer Alec Papadakis, President Jake Edwards and guest speakers.

“Following a remarkable year for the USL, we are extremely pleased to welcome our clubs to our home city for this year’s Winter Summit,” said Edwards. “This week’s meetings will allow us to build on the growth the league has seen this season on and off the field, and continue final preparations for the 2018 season. We look forward to continuing to work with our club leadership toward our goal of becoming one of the leading second divisions in the world.”

In addition to the meeting of the Board of Governors, the week will also include presentations from league and team representatives which will offer insights into maximizing business performance across all levels for the league’s clubs. Organizations that became part of the USL Preferred Partners program will also be on hand for the annual trade show that continues to be a major part of the week.

“Our members draw greatly from the experience of league and club leadership, who provide insight and opportunities to implement best practices across all our teams,” said Edwards. “We believe this week will provide insights that will allow our clubs to return home with fresh ideas to further enhance their business, which in turns helps the league and its clubs maintain the excellent year-on-year growth trend we have seen collectively and at a local level.”
