PHOENIX – The biggest preseason party in North American soccer is heading back to Arizona.

Phoenix Rising FC, in partnership with FC Tucson, announced on Tuesday it would welcome 11 clubs from Major League Soccer for the 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup and MLS Preseason between February 3-24, continuing the traditional preseason event for a seventh consecutive year.

Rising FC will face three MLS opponents at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex as part of the event, with contests against the Colorado Rapids (2/14), and Sporting Kansas City (2/17) currently confirmed.  The Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz. is set to play host to six teams that featured in the 2017 Audi MLS Cup playoffs.

“Tucson has done an incredible job setting a gold standard for MLS Preseason and we’re excited to enhance that and make it bigger than ever,” said Phoenix Rising FC club governor Berke Bakay. “With the help of Mobile Mini we’re bringing even more clubs to Arizona for MLS Preseason.”

The 11 MLS clubs participating in the Mobile Mini Sun Cup are the Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LA Galaxy, New England Revolution, Portland Timbers, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, and Sporting Kansas City.

“Soccer in Arizona benefits when FC Tucson and Phoenix Rising FC co-host projects like this,” said FC Tucson general manager Jon Pearlman. “The fact that this event is expanding is a testament to the Tucson soccer community’s role in growing MLS Preseason.”

The complete schedule for the 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup will be announced at a future date, with the new sponsor also set to present the 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup MVP Award, which will be given to the most valuable player during the tournament.

“Mobile Mini is excited to partner with such an amazing organization here in the Valley,” said Mobile Mini President and CEO, Erik Olsson. “It’s a great time for Phoenix soccer fans. There is no better way to support the home team than to partner for the 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup.”
