Preseason clash on Feb. 10 will mark first soccer match at First Tennessee Park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville SC announced on Tuesday it will play host to Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United in the first soccer match ever played at First Tennessee Park in a preseason exhibition on February 10, 2018.

Tickets for the contest are currently available exclusively with the purchase of Nashville SC season tickets as the 2018 USL expansion club prepares for its inaugural season in the league.

“We want Nashville SC’s first-ever friendly match to be special for the club and memorable for the fans,” said Nashville Head Coach Gary Smith. “Hosting Atlanta United will certainly challenge our squad as we prepare for our inaugural season. We are building a championship-caliber team and will put that to the test as we face a variety of top sides that will allow us to determine how our roster performs best in a variety of game situations.”

“We are looking forward to facing Nashville SC in our first preseason friendly of 2018,” said Atlanta United President Darren Eales. “Having a regional rival within driving distance of Atlanta will allow our fans the chance to see the team play early in the season. It’s an exciting opportunity for us to be the first opponent to face Nashville SC in First Tennessee Park.”

Nashville SC has already sold more than 2,000 season ticket memberships ahead of its inaugural season, with the club having also recently announced the addition of Nissan as its primary jersey sponsor in a multi-year deal.

Atlanta will face further USL opposition later in the preseason as it competes at the 2018 Carolina Challenge Cup hosted by the Charleston Battery at MUSC Health Stadium which kicks off the following weekend. Atlanta, which set MLS single-game and single-season attendance records in its first season this past year, also recently unveiled plans to operate a USL club in the 2018 season that will compete at Coolray Field in Gwinnet, Ga.
