Louisville goalkeeper’s reflex stop against Red Bulls II claims online poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Louisville City FC goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh has claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Playoffs as his outstanding reflex save against the New York Red Bulls II in the Eastern Conference Final of the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs finished top of the online poll.

Ranjitsingh produced a stellar run of form as Louisville claimed its first USL Cup, and his extra-time save against the Red Bulls II’s Ethan Kutler proved one of the key moments of the postseason overall. With the game level, New York was awarded a free kick just outside the top of the penalty area. Kutler fired a strong effort toward the low-left corner of the net, only for Ranjitsingh to read the play perfectly to pull off a diving save that tipped the shot just around the post.

Ranjitsingh earned 60 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Monday morning. FC Cincinnati goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt finished second on 17 percent for his low, diving save to deny the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ Marcel Schäfer in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, and the New York Red Bulls II’s Evan Louro finished third with 13 percent for his spectacular diving save on the Rowdies’ Sebastian Guenzatti in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
