Tremendous long-range finish against Reno earns top spot in poll

TAMPA, Fla. – OKC Energy FC forward Wojciech Wojcik has taken the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Playoffs as his fierce long-range strike that gave Energy FC victory against Reno 1868 FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs took top spot in the weekly online poll.

Wojcik returned from injury late in the season, and played a key role in Energy FC’s run to the Western Conference Final from the No. 6 seed in the conference. Against Reno, his dummy and spin allowed Jose Angulo to provide a perfect layoff at the top of the penalty area for the Polish striker to fire home into the top-left corner of the net for the only goal in OKC’s 1-0 victory at Greater Nevada Field.

Wojcik’s goal earned 50 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Monday morning. Louisville City FC’s Cameron Lancaster finished second with 37 percent for his perfect header that earned City victory in front of 14,456 fans against the Swope Park Rangers in the 2017 USL Cup, while Tulsa Roughnecks FC’s Paris Gee finished third on 10 percent for his outstanding long-range strike against San Antonio FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
