LOUISVILLE, Ky. – It’s unlikely Friday’s USL Cup Press Conference will contain the type of one-liners that Muhammed Ali was famous for as the greatest boxer of all-time, but with Monday night’s USL Cup bringing together two clubs that have been heavyweights in the league over the past two seasons in host and Eastern Conference champion Louisville City FC and two-time Western Conference champions the Swope Park Rangers, The Ali Center in downtown Louisville seems a fitting place for the two title contenders to meet.

Opened on Nov. 9, 2005, The Ali Center pays homage to Louisville’s most famous son and features an interactive museum guided by Ali’s six core principles of Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect and Spirituality. One of the iconic landmarks in the center of Louisville, The Ali Center will welcome USL President Jake Edwards, Head Coaches James O’Connor of Louisville City FC and Nikola Popovic of the Swope Park Rangers, Louisville players Paolo DelPiccolo and George Davis IV and Swope Park Rangers players Christian Duke and Adrian Zendejas for Friday’s press conference at 2 p.m. ET.

The press conference will be streamed live on the league's Facebook Page.

“We are absolutely thrilled by the welcome we have received both from the City of Louisville, and The Ali Center, as the USL Cup arrives in the city,” said Edwards. “The lessons The Ali Center teaches all of us about the means to make the most of the opportunities we’re given will provide an inspiring backdrop for Friday’s press conference as we bring together two outstanding clubs ahead of what should be a highly entertaining game on Monday night.”

Following Friday’s press conference, both teams will be part of a Pep Rally at 4th Street Live in Downtown Louisville at 4 p.m. ET, where Mayor Greg Fischer will welcome the Swope Park Rangers to the city as both teams take part in the festivities into the evening.

The 2017 USL Cup kicks off at 9 p.m. ET on Monday night at Slugger Field and will be broadcast live on ESPNU and SiriusXM FC in the United States, and in the USL Match Center for international audiences.
