2018 expansion club confident of USL-record first-year season ticket sales

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Soccer fans in Nashville appear more than ready for the 2018 USL season to arrive at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville SC announced on Thursday it had sold more than 2,000 season tickets for the club’s inaugural season in the USL during an exclusive pre-sale window. With tickets getting set to go on sale to the general public on Nov. 1, the club is confident of reaching its goal of 6,200 season ticket holders for the 2018 season, a number that would represent a record for any first-year USL club.

“Becoming a Nashville SC season ticket member is another opportunity for supporters of our professional soccer movement to show the sports world that Music City is Soccer City,” said NSC majority owner John Ingram.

Nashville’s potential season-ticket base of 6,200 would place it in the top five within the USL based off 2017 figures. The past regular season was a historic one for the USL as its teams welcomed more than two million fans to their venues during the 2017 USL regular season. Nine teams in the USL averaged more than 5,000 fans per game this season, more than double the number in 2016, with First Tennessee Park’s capacity of 10,000 putting Nashville in line to join those clubs in the 2018 regular season.

Nashville has been home to big soccer crowds already this year, with the U.S. Men’s National Team’s clash with Panama in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup bringing 47,622 fans to Nissan Stadium. Joining the league alongside Fresno FC and Las Vegas Lights FC in 2018, Nashville SC has gained major traction in the local community since officially joining the USL in May 2016.

“Our club staff are interacting with fans daily – on the phone, on social media and at events throughout the city – and we continue to be inspired by the tremendous amount of enthusiasm for our launch,” said Court Jeske, CEO of Nashville SC. “First Tennessee Park is going to deliver an intimate and lively, let’s call it raucous, atmosphere when we take the field next March. No sports fan in town will want to miss it.”
