TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced on Wednesday that head coach David Vaudreuil has signed a new, two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2019 USL season. Vaudreuil led the Roughnecks to their first appearance in the USL Cup Playoffs appearance this past season, his first as the club's Head Coach.

"We are thrilled to say our first, off-season announcement is a two-year extension for David," said Roughnecks VP Brian Carroll. "This past season represented a very critical year for us, and Coach Vaudreuil put together a very entertaining team that produced positive results on the field. Our first-ever trip to the playoffs ended sooner than we wanted, but it was a team that was capable of making a deep run into the postseason.”

Vaudreuil oversaw a massive turnaround for the Roughnecks in the 2017 USL regular season that saw the side more than double both its total wins and points from the previous season. Tulsa finished seventh in the USL Western Conference with a 14-14-4 record and a franchise-best 46 points as Vaudreuil’s side brought an entertaining style to ONEOK Field.

The Roughnecks claimed the Black Gold Derby Wrench for the first time in the three-year-old series, defeating in-state rival OKC Energy FC twice in three meetings. Tulsa also recorded 10 home victories in the regular season, the fifth-highest total in the Western Conference.

"I am very excited to sign a new, two-year deal to remain in Tulsa," said Vaudreuil. "Tulsa has been great for my family and me. It was a good first year, and the support from our fans was tremendous. I am excited about 2018, and we have already started to work to improve on our project from this past year.”
