Outstanding free kick finish against Roughnecks takes top spot in poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC standout Kevaughn Frater has taken the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 30 of the 2017 season as his outstanding free kick strike against Tulsa Roughnecks FC this past Saturday night at ONEOK Field took top spot in the weekly online poll.

Frater had a strong individual season for the Switchbacks, and capped it with his 11th and 12th goals of the season in Colorado Springs’ visit to Tulsa. The Jamaican’s final goal of the regular season was one for the highlight reel, too, as he picked out the top-left corner of the net off a free kick from 25 yards out that capped the Switchbacks’ 4-2 victory against the Roughnecks.

Frater’s goal earned 38 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Louisville City FC’s Mark-Anthony Kaye finished second with 27 percent for a tremendous individual effort that saw him carry possession from his own half, beat two defenders and curl a low shot into the right corner of the net, while Phoenix Rising FC’s Didier Drogba finished third on 23 percent for his fantastic solo goal that saw him weave through the Portland Timbers 2 penalty area before finishing low into the left corner.
