Real Monarchs SLC forward Jonel Désiré has been named in Haiti’s squad to face Japan in an international exhibition in Yokahama, Japan on Oct. 10. Désiré is joined in the squad by Ottawa Fury FC forward Jimmy Sanon, and 2016 USL Cup-winner Derrick Etienne Jr. of the New York Red Bulls.

Désiré has made eight appearances as a substitute for the Monarchs this season, his first with the club. The 20-year-old has previously made five appearances for his country, and scored his first international goal this past January in a game against Suriname in 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup Qualifying.

Désiré also appeared earlier this year at the CONCACAF U20 Championship, where he recorded two goals for Haiti’s U20 National team.

Sanon has recorded one goal in nine appearances for Fury FC this season, having previously competed in the USL for FC Montreal in 2016. Sanon was the winner of the 2016 USL Goal of the Year award, and was a teammate of Désiré's at the CONCACAF U20 Championship earlier this year where he tallied one goal.

Etienne has made 50 career appearances for the New York Red Bulls II, and was a key player in the club’s victory in the 2016 USL Cup Final to cap his first professional season. A Homegrown signing for the Red Bulls, Etienne has also appeared in 17 games this season in MLS, recording two assists.
