RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC midfielder Junior Burgos has been called into the El Salvador National Team squad that will face Canada on Sunday, Oct. 8 in Houston at BBVA Compass Field, continuing his presence in the squad that previously included competing in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup earlier this year.

Burgos has made 17 appearances for Reno in the club’s inaugural season, recording one goal, three assists and 17 key passes in that span. The 29-year-old has also previously made 12 appearances for his country, scoring a pair of goals since making his debut three years ago.

“Junior has been busy this season playing both for us and internationally for El Salvador,” 1868 FC Head Coach Ian Russell said. “We’re happy he has the opportunity to showcase his talents with his national squad once again.”

Burgos could square off with a pair of fellow USL players from Canada’s squad in Sunday’s game, with Louisville City FC’s Mark-Anthony Kaye and Orlando City B’s Jordan Schweitzer both selected for the contest.

The international call-up will see Burgos be unavailable for Reno’s game on Saturday night against Orange County SC.
