Fury FC visits Harrisburg for must-win contest

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Ottawa Fury FC visits the Harrisburg City Islanders on Wednesday evening at FNB Field for what is looking like a must-win game for 12th-place Fury FC in its pursuit of a place in the USL Cup Playoffs. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 8-14-7, 31pts

  • The City Islanders earned their second win in their last three outings when they took a 2-1 victory against Toronto FC II on Sept. 16 in their most recent outing.

  • Toronto took the lead in the contest, but a pair of goals by Ropapa Mensah either side of halftime rallied Harrisburg to victory.

  • The 20-year-old Mensah now leads the City Islanders with five goals this season, breaking a tie with Pedro Ribeiro.

  • The City Islanders have scored only one out of three penalty kicks they’ve been awarded this season.

Ottawa Fury FC news and notes

  • Fury FC recorded its fifth consecutive draw on Sunday afternoon as it played to a 1-1 tie against Louisville City FC at TD Place.

  • Nick DePuy, who joined the team on loan for the rest of the season earlier in the weekend, scored the equalizer for Ottawa after Louisville had taken a second-half lead.

  • The result put Fury FC five points out of the eighth and final playoff position with four games to go in the regular season.

  • Fury FC is one draw away from equaling OKC Energy FC’s USL single-season record of 13, set last season.
