Louisville looks to continue good form against Fury FC

OTTAWA – Eastern Conference-leader Louisville City FC visits Ottawa Fury FC on Sunday afternoon at TD Place looking to extend its lead at the top of the conference standings as Fury FC fights to keep its playoff hopes alive. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.

Ottawa Fury FC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-9-11, 32pts

  • Ottawa recorded its fourth consecutive draw last Saturday night as a late equalizer allowed the Charlotte Independence to earn a 1-1 tie at the Sportsplex at Matthews.

  • Fury FC had taken the lead through Jamar Dixon in the 11th minute, but the hosts hit back with a minute to go through Lewis Hilton.

  • Ottawa is still without a win since Julian de Guzman took over as interim Head Coach, with the side having gone 0-2-5 in that span.

  • Fury FC sits six points out of the eighth and final playoff position with five games to go in the regular season,  making a victory on Sunday almost essential to the club’s playoff aspirations.

Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Louisville took its third win in its last four games on Wednesday night as it defeated the Rochester Rhinos 2-1 at Slugger Field.

  • Forward Luke Spencer scored the game-winner in stoppage time from the penalty spot for his team-leading 10th goal of the regular season.

  • Louisville enters the game six points clear of the rest of the Western Conference, and will have the chance to pull level on points with Western Conference-leader Real Monarchs SLC with a win.

  • Continued progress toward the creation of a soccer-specific stadium for Louisville was announced on Friday, with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer unveiling a $200 million economic development plan that would include the venue.
