Sacramento Republic FC news and notes

  • Current record: 12-8-6, 42pts

  • Republic FC rallied from an early deficit to take a 2-1 victory against Southern California rivals the LA Galaxy II last Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 11,569 at Papa Murphy's Park.

  • After conceding just 10 seconds into the match, Sacramento came back thanks to goals from Luis Espino on his debut for the club and Villyan Bijev to earn its second successive victory.

  • Bijev’s goal was his second in as many weeks and earned him a place on the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday, and gave the attacking midfielder nine goals in the regular season.

  • Sacramento sits in sixth place in the USL Western Conference going into the weekend's action, and holds a six-point cushion on ninth-place Orange County SC with six games to go in the regular season.

  • Republic FC has posted a 7-2-4 record at Papa Murphy's Park this season, and will host both Real Monarchs SLC and Phoenix Rising FC to conclude its home stand before ending the season on a three-game road trip.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 10-11-7, 37pts

  • Energy FC suffered a tough loss to Reno 1868 FC on Wednesday night as their hosts took a 3-0 victory at Greater Nevada Field in the first game of Energy FC's trip out west.

  • Both goalkeeper Cody Laurendi and defender Coady Andrews, both of whom have made more than 1,900 minutes this season, were substituted in the first half against Reno after a collision between the two hobbled both players.

  • Energy FC has been in the middle of a difficult run of form with just one win in its last four matches as it sits in the eighth and final playoff position in the Western Conference going into this weekend's action.

  • OKC has struggled on the road this season, with just two wins away from Taft Stadium and an overall record of 2-9-4. The side will return home for its final three games of the regular season after its contest on Saturday.
