Colorado Springs FC news and notes

  • Current record: 9-11-8, 35pts

  • The Switchbacks come into this match following a 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders FC 2 last Saturday night at Starfire Stadium.

  • The Switchbacks rallied to earn a point in the contest, but saw the result drop the side to 10th in the USL Western Conference as both OKC Energy FC and Orange County SC took victories on Sunday evening.

  • The Switchbacks are now winless in their last five games, with the club's last victory coming in a 4-0 win against Orange County SC on Aug. 8. The side's last home win came three days earlier against the Portland Timbers 2.

  • Fowards Kevaughn Frater and Masta Kacher, who sit 1-2 in scoring for the Switchbacks this season, have been held scoreless during the club's five-game winless streak.

Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 14-7-6, 48pts

  • The Rangers edged closer to the USL Cup Playoffs with a stunning 5-2 victory against San Antonio FC last Sunday evening at Children's Mercy Victory Field in their last outing.

  • Two goals by Nansel Selbol and tallies by Felipe Hernandez, Kharlton Belmar and Max Rugova put San Antonio to the sword in the Rangers' highest-scoring game of the season.

  • Selbol was named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday for his two-goal performance, which moved him to seven goals for the season overall.

  • The Rangers enter the weekend needing only two points to clinch a place in the USL Cup Playoffs for a second consecutive season, and would only need a draw against the Switchbacks should Orange County SC lose on Friday night to Real Monarchs SLC.

Series Notes

  • This will be only the third match between the two sides with the Rangers having claimed the only win, a 2-1 victory at Children's Mercy Victory Field on June 21 when the teams first met this season.
