Standout stop by City Islanders keeper vs. Cincinnati earns weekly honor

TAMPA, Fla. – Harrisburg City Islanders goalkeeper Brandon Miller has grabbed the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 26 of the 2017 season as his outstanding reflex save against FC Cincinnati last Tuesday night at FNB Field finished top of the weekly online poll, and gave the City Islanders back-to-back victories.

After Sean Lewis’ outstanding double-save against Saint Louis FC claimed the honor in Week 25, Miller produced another top-drawer stop in the City Islanders’ clash with Cincinnati. Miller’s exceptional reaction to Djiby Fall’s volley from eight yards out after a flicked header by Kyle Greig saw the goalkeeper able to parry the effort over the crossbar as part of a three-save performance.

Miller received 68 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Ottawa Fury FC goalkeeper Callum Irving finished in second with 22 percent for his tipped save on a header by the Charlotte Independence’s Jaime Siaj on Saturday night, and Richmond Kickers goalkeeper Travis Worra took third with 10 percent for his diving save to deny a low, curling shot by the Charleston Battery’s Maikel Chang.
