Orange County looks to bounce back in playoff pursuit

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Orange County SC will look to rebound from a midweek defeat when it visits Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Sunday afternoon at Thunderbird Stadium looking to keep its hopes a place in the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs alive. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. PT.

  • Current record: 5-14-8, 23pts

  • WFC2 earned a 0-0 draw with OKC Energy FC last Sunday evening at Taft Stadium as Sean Melvin recorded a seven-save shutout.

  • Melvin’s performance earned him a place on the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday, with the shutout his second of the season and fifth overall for Vancouver.

  • The draw almost erased Vancouver’s hopes of a return to the USL Cup Playoffs as the side now sits 11 points out of eighth place with five games remaining.

  • Midfielder David Norman Jr. leads WFC2 in both chances created with 28 and tackles won with 103 this season, his first in the professional ranks.
