Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 13-7-6, 45pts

  • The Rangers come into this match following a 2-1 loss to Orange County SC last Saturday night at Champions Soccer Stadium at Orange County Great Park.

  • Kharlton Belmar scored his 10th goal of the season to pull the Rangers level at the start of the second half but the visitors were unable to hold off their hosts as Orange County took its first win at its new home venue.

  • Swope Park has not lost consecutive matches since their May 26th loss to San Antonio, which followed a loss to Rio Grande Valley FC.

  • Belmar and Swope Park attacking midfielder Kevin Oliveira were introduced as the newest members of Sporting Kansas City on Friday, with both players signing MLS contracts with the club after their performances this season.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 14-2-10, 52pts

  • San Antonio clinched its spot in the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs with a 1-0 victory against Orange County SC on Wednesday night at Champions Soccer Stadium at Orange County Great Park.

  • A Ben Newnam free kick in the 55th minute was enough for SAFC to seal the victory and a place in the playoffs for the first time in club history.

  • Newnam’s goal was his first of the season, making him the 12th SAFC player to score a goal this season.

  • Goalkeeper Diego Restrepo recorded his 11th shutout of the season in the win, which was Orange County's seventh 1-0 victory of the season. Restrepo needs three shutouts in the club's final six games to set a USL single-season record.

  • Sunday's game ends a four-game road trip for SAFC, which has gone 2-0-1 over its first three games to move within four points of Real Monarchs SLC at the top of the USL Western Conference.

Series Notes

  • The Park Rangers lead the all time series between the two sides, 2-1-2, but have not defeated San Antonio FC this season with a draw and a loss in their prior two meetings.
