Double-save by City Islanders keeper against Saint Louis topped weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Harrisburg City Islanders goalkeeper Sean Lewis has claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 25 of the 2017 season as his fantastic double-save in a 2-1 victory against Saint Louis FC on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis finished top of the weekly online poll.

Deputizing for regular starter Brandon Miller, Lewis came up big in the 39th minute as Harrisburg held a 1-0 lead on the road, first getting down well to turn a shot by Saint Louis’ Dragan Stojkov toward the left post. Lewis then recovered quickly to close down the rebound chance by Tony Walls to keep the hosts off the board.

Lewis received 72 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 goalkeeper Sean Melvin finished second for excellent tip-save to deny OKC Energy FC’s Coady Andrews, part of a seven-save shutout that earned USL Team of the Week honors on Tuesday. Real Monarchs SLC goalkeeper Connor Sparrow, who on Monday signed with Real Salt Lake, took third for his tremendous double-save to deny the Portland Timbers 2’s Gio Calixtro and Augustine Williams late to preserve a point on the road for the Western Conference leaders.
