Rangers forward tops poll for third straight month

TAMPA, Fla. – Nansel Selbol's run is now at three as his threaded finish for the Swope Park Rangers against Real Monarchs SLC has been voted the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month for August of the 2017 season. Selbol’s goal, which was also voted the best of Week 22 by the fans, helped the Rangers hold the first-place Monarchs to a 2-2 draw at Children's Mercy Victory Field in the final regular season matchup between the squads.

With the result, Selbol has now claimed the last three Fans' Choice Goal of the Month awards dating back to June.

Selbol entered as a halftime substitute with his side trailing by two and less than 15 minutes after entering the action, the Nigerian ignited the rally with yet another showstopping tally. Kharlton Belmar found Selbol's feet with a short pass outside the area who despite the presence of seven Monarchs defenders in the immediate vicinity, was able to turn and lace his effort into the bottom left corner.

Selbol's strike received 30 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Monday morning. Louisville City FC’s Niall McCabe finished second with 26 percent for his header that was part of a resounding River Cities Cup victory over FC Cincinnati, while Didier Drogba's long-range rocket in a Phoenix Rising FC win against the LA Galaxy II ranked third with 18 percent.
