TUKWILA, Wash. – Reno 1868 FC is now unbeaten in seven consecutive games after the club recorded a 1-1 tie against Seattle Sounders 2 at the Starfire Sports Complex on Saturday evening. Seattle’s Zach Mathers opened the scoring in the first minute, as the midfielder sent a cross into the box, and it went untouched by Reno goalkeeper Matt Bersano. 1868 FC’s Brian Brown netted the equalizer in the 38th minute, finishing from close range following a corner kick. With the result, 1868 FC moves to 14-5-7 this season, while Seattle is now 9-15-3 this campaign.

Scoring:
1’ – SEA – Zach Mathers
38’ – RNO – Brian Brown

Three Things That Matter:

  • 1. Reno is on the brink of breaking the single-season goals scored record, currently held by the New York Red Bulls II, after recording one against Seattle on Saturday. Brian Brown’s goal in the 38th minute was the club’s 60th of the season, which is one behind the current record. On top of that, the club has also scored a goal in seven consecutive games.
  • 2. Seattle needed all three points as it looks to make a late push for a spot in the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs. The club will likely be happy with the point, however, as Reno has been on fire in recent weeks and could have scored a late winner if not for an outstanding save from Tyler Miller in the 86th minute.
  • 3. As the season comes to a close, Reno continues to maintain pace with the best in the Western Conference. In its inaugural season, the club has accomplished incredible feats, set to potentially break a USL record while earning a berth to the playoffs in its first season. While Reno was not able to book its ticket this weekend, the tie moves the club closer to that goal.

USLSoccer.com Man of the Match:
Christopher Wehan, Reno 1868 FC –
Wehan continues to impress in his first USL season, as the midfielder was active in the attack and completed 80 percent of his passes on the night.
