Energy FC looks for bounce-back performance at home

OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC will look to bounce back from its second defeat in the past four outings when it welcomes Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 to Taft Stadium on Sunday night. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 9-10-6, 33pts

  • Energy FC fell 2-0 to the Swope Park Rangers in its most recent outing as the side slipped out of the playoff positions in the Western Conference last Saturday night.

  • OKC enters the weekend one point out of the Western Conference playoff positions, but will have a close eye on the clash on Saturday night that sees seventh-place Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and eighth-place Phoenix Rising FC.

  • Energy FC is 3-0-1 in its last four games at Taft Stadium, and has recorded three consecutive shutouts at home since a 4-3 victory against the Switchbacks on July 22.

  • WFC2 suffered a 3-1 defeat against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Wednesday night at the MacLeod Athletic Complex as a pair of second-half goals lifted the visitors to victory.

  • Vancouver entered the game off its first victory since June, but was unable to build on its momentum as it remained in 14th place in the USL Western Conference.

  • Marco Bustos scored his seventh goal of the season from the penalty spot against the Roughnecks, and remains perfect in converting all five of his penalty kicks this season.

  • WFC2 forward Myer Bevan could return to the lineup on Sunday after scoring his first goal for New Zealand’s Men’s National Team this past week against the Solomon Islands in World Cup Qualifying.
