COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Friday the signings of A.J. Ajeakwa and Shawn Chin for the remainder of the 2017 USL regular season. Both Ajeakwa and Chin arrive at the Switchbacks after previously competing for San Antonio FC this season.

"I am glad that we were able to add Shawn and AJ to our roster for the final push to the regular season," said Switchbacks Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "They will both help us in experience and quality to get a playoff birth. Shawn is very versatile and will help us in a few different positions and AJ is a quality attacking player that adds speed and quality in different areas."

Ajeakwa, 26, joined San Antonio this past offseason after having spent the 2016 season with Orange County SC. The forward helped lead OCSC to victory against Sacramento Republic FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs.

Ajeakwa has played in 15 matches for San Antonio this season, and scored three goals in almost 1,000 minutes of action. Prior to his professional career he competed for Chico State University, where Ajeakwa earned All-CCAA Second Team honors and was named the Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2012.

"I'm excited to be a part of the Switchbacks organization," said Ajeakwa. "I'm ready to help the Switchbacks secure a playoff spot and make a good post-season run."

Chin, 28, joined San Antonio during its 2016 inaugural season, and recorded three goals and one assist in 32 regular-season games for the club. Chin had previously competed for the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, where he made more than 50 appearances over two seasons, and is former member of the U.S. U20 National Team.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join the club, " said Chin. "I'm ready to get into the game tomorrow and help the team get the three points."

Both Ajeakwa and Chin will be eligible for Saturday night’s match against Phoenix Rising FC at Weidner Field. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive the fifth and final piece of the poster series puzzle courtesy of Accelerated Wealth.
