STLFC looks to regain momentum for playoff push against City Islanders

FENTON, Mo. – With a four-point gap to bridge to the top eight in the USL Eastern Conference, Saint Louis FC welcomes the Harrisburg City Islanders to Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis on Saturday night looking to get its playoff push back on track. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.

Saint Louis FC news and notes

  • Current record: 8-11-7, 28pts

  • Saint Louis FC played to a 2-2 draw with Ottawa Fury FC last Sunday at TD Place after rallying to take a second-half lead in the contest.

  • Goals by Seth Rudolph and Milan Petosevic gave Saint Louis the lead after the side had trailed at halftime, but an 88th minute penalty kick by Steevan Dos Santos earned Fury FC a draw.

  • Saint Louis went winless through its trip to the Northeast, taking two points to sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings and four points out of the playoff positions. 

  • Petosevic's goal against Ottawa was his first for Saint Louis, with the Serbian midfielder having joined the club this offseason from Favoritner AC in Austria.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 6-14-6, 24pts

  • The Harrisburg City Islanders fell for a sixth consecutive game on Wednesday as the Tampa Bay Rowdies took a 3-2 victory at FNB Field to push Harrisburg further from the playoff positions.

  • After Lee Nishanian for the City Islanders opened the scoring in the 31st minute, Tampa Bay scored twice in three minutes to take the lead. Ropapa Mensah got the side back on level terms, but the Rowdies converted a second-half penalty kick through Georgi Hristov to take victory.

  • Nishanian's goal against the Rowdies ended a 616-minute scoreless streak for the City Islanders, who had been held without a goal for six consecutive games prior to Wednesday's contest.

  • Both Tiago Calvano and Mouhamed Dabo will be suspended for Saturday's game after receiving one-game suspensions for caution accumulation after receiving yellow cards on Wednesday night against Tampa Bay.
