LA Galaxy II news and notes

  • Current record: 7-13-4, 25pts

  • The Galaxy II come into this match looking for some consistency following their 1-0 win against Rio Grande Valley FC on Sunday.

  • A 21st-minute strike from Ariel Lassiter, worthy of winning any contest, was enough to give Los Dos the victory, keeping the side's slim hopes of reaching the USL Cup Playoffs alive while earning Lassiter a place on the USL Team of the Week bench.

  • Sunday's win was a rare home victory for the Galaxy II, just their third of the year, as they have a better record on the road. With just three home matches to go, a win on Wednesday night would continue a late charge toward the postseason.

  • Goalkeeper Bennett Sneddon recorded his first shutout of the season on Sunday against the Toros, giving the Galaxy II four for the season overall.

Reno 1868 FC news and notes

  • Current record: 13-5-6, 45pts

  • The spectacular form of 1868 FC continued on Saturday as it claimed a 3-1 win against Orange County SC at Champions Soccer Stadium.

  • A Jimmy Ockford goal, and an own goal gave Reno the lead in the first half before Chris Wehan extended it to three in the second half. Wehan now has six goals this season to go along with his league-leading nine assists.

  • Reno is set to have leading goal-scorer Dane Kelly back with the squad on Wednesday night after the striker made his international debut for Jamaica against Canada on Saturday night. Kelly is tied for the league-lead with 16 goals this season, six goals short of the USL single-season record.

  • 1868 FC is also within sight of one of the USL's single-season records as a team, with its 57 goals this season putting it five away from surpassing the New York Red Bulls II's total of 61 a season ago.

Series Notes

  • The two sides have only met once previously, a memorable 9-0 victory for Reno 1868 FC on July 3rd.
