Tyrpak Claims Fans' Choice Goal of the Week

Powerful header gave SAFC victory against WFC2, earned top spot in poll

TAMPA, Fla. – San Antonio FC midfielder Kris Tyrpak has won the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 23 of the 2017 season, as his powerful header that lifted SAFC to victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Wednesday night took top spot in the weekly online poll.  

Tyrpak scored his sixth goal of the 2017 regular season early at Toyota Park, with a fine cross by Greg Cochrane finding the winger beyond the penalty spot for a powerful header into the left corner of the net. The goal stood as the winner in a 1-0 win for SAFC as the side cemented its second-place position in the USL’s Western Conference.

Tyrpak’s goal earned 38 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Toronto FC II forward Jordan Hamilton finished second with 27 percent for his fine turning finish against the Charlotte Independence last Saturday night that earned the Reds a 3-2 victory on the road. Real Monarchs SLC midfielder Daniel Haber took third on 22 percent for his outstanding long-range strike against Rio Grande Valley FC last Friday night which helped the Monarchs claim their 11th home win of the season and remain top of the Western Conference.
