Republic FC’s Klimenta, Caesar Called Up

Sacramento duo named for World Cup Qualifiers this week

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC defender Emrah Klimenta and forward Trevin Caesar have both been called up for World Cup Qualifying this week. Klimenta will join Montenegro’s squad and Caesar Trinidad & Tobago’s as both countries face a pair of games in the upcoming week.

“It is very exciting news for both players and it is a reflection of the form that they have been in,” said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. “Their national teams have been monitoring their performance and it has been at high levels.  We are proud to have two internationals players representing their countries and our club on a global stage.” 

This is the third time that Klimenta has been called up to the Montenegro National Team.  The defender previously joined the National Team from May 20 – 29, 2016 for a friendly match against Turkey and earlier this season from May 24 – Jun. 10 for a World Cup Qualifying Match against Armenia.

Klimenta and the Montenegro National Team entered camp on Aug. 27 and will play in World Cup Qualifying Matches against Kazakhstan on Sept. 1 and Romania on Sept. 4.  Klimenta will rejoin Republic FC on Sept. 5.

This marks Caesar’s first call up to Trinidad and Tobago as a member of Republic FC.  The forward will join the national team for their World Cup Qualifying Matches against Honduras on Sept. 1 and Panama on Sept. 5.  Caesar will rejoin Republic FC on Sept. 6.
