Toros need rebound performance as T2 visits

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley FC is in need of a bounce-back performance when it plays host to the Portland Timbers 2 on Wednesday night at H-E-B Park, with the Toros sitting six points out of the playoff positions in the Western Conference with eight games to go in the regular season. Rio Grande Valley FC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-11-6, 27pts

  • Rio Grande Valley fell 2-1 to Real Monarchs SLC last Friday night as the club’s winless streak extended to three games.

  • Kyle Murphy scored the opening goal against the Monarchs, but the Western Conference-leading Monarchs rallied to take the lead before the halftime break on their way to victory.

  • Toros defender Kai Greene has won 139 duels this season, putting him sixth in the league, and his success rate of 66.19 percent is the highest in the league’s top 10 duel-winners.

  • The Toros are looking for their first home win since June 10 against Seattle Sounders FC 2. The club has gone 0-2-3 at H-E-B Park since that victory.
