Reno 1868 FC news and notes

  • Current record: 11-5-6, 39pts

  • Reno 1868 FC comes into Saturday's game as the most in-form team in the USL Western Conference following a memorable 2-1 victory against Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday night at Papa Murphy's Park.

  • After trailing in the 15th minute, Reno quickly responded to score two quick goals and claim the match with Dane Kelly adding to his USL Golden Boot lead and Chris Wehan hitting a perfect free kick for the winner in the 22nd minute.

  • That free kick was part of why Wehan was named to the USL Team of the Week, with Kelly earning a place on the bench.

  • The victory against Sacramento was Reno’s third in a row. 1868 FC has lost just one of its last 10 matches. At home Reno it even more formidable, having not lost at home since the first match of the season on March 25th.

Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 12-5-6, 42pts

  • The Rangers come into Saturday's match following a 2-2 draw with Sacramento Republic FC on Wednesday night at Papa Murphy's Park.

  • Soony Saad opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but Sacramento equalized before Kharlton Belmar restored Swope Park’s lead in the second half. Republic FC got back on level terms for a second time just two minutes from full time.

  • Nansel Selbol started Wednesday's match after having a phenomenal impact as a substitute in its prior outing last Friday night against Real Monarchs SLC, as his goal sparked a comeback for a 2-2 draw. Selbol earned a place on the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday, and was joined by Belmar, who received a place on the bench.

  • Swope Park comes into this match having recorded four consecutive draws, and the side is winless in its last five games overall, including its last meeting with Reno.
