Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Current record: 13-4-5, 44pts

  • Louisville City FC comes in as one of the most in-form teams in the USL, coming off another big win as they defeated the Harrisburg City Islanders 5-0 on Wednesday in the USL Game of the Week.

  • Mark-Anthony Kaye and Illija Ilic got Louisville off to a flyer with goals in the first 15 minutes, Paolo DelPiccolo adding a third before the break. From there they never looked troubled with Niall McCabe and Sean Totsch adding in the second half for the 5-0 final.

  • That result makes it 13 goals in two weeks for Louisville and from last week’s win over Bethlehem Steel two players, Oscar Jimenez and Luke Spencer earned USL Team of the Week honors.

  • The race for the top of the USL Eastern Conference is tight, with Louisville only ahead on the first tiebreaker, and it will need a result here to be assured of remaining in top spot at the end of the week.

Orlando City B news and notes

  • Current record: 7-6-11, 32pts

  • Orlando City B continued its strong run of form, now stretching out to a team-record 10 matches unbeaten as they managed a 1-1 draw against the Charlotte Independence last Saturday.

  • Hadji Barry got the only goal for Orlando, coming from the penalty spot but it couldn’t hold on, conceding just two minutes after Barry’s fifth-minute goal.

  • Barry’s work in two matches last week earned him the USL Player of the Week honors, scoring three goals across the two matches. Orlando’s goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. was also on the team, featuring on the bench.

  • Orlando is actually stronger away from home, with a 5-4-4 record, and it will need to be at its best to defeat the new Eastern Conference leaders.

Louisville leads the all time series 3-1-0, the two sides have yet to play out to a draw.
