PITTSBURGH (August 22, 2017) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds forward Corey Hertzog has been named to the USL Team of the Week after netting a second-half brace to help the Hounds to a 2-1 victory at Saint Louis FC this past weekend.

Hertzog’s performance ensured Pittsburgh its second straight win – both on the road – as well as kept the club unbeaten in the month of August (2-0-1). Additionally, the two goals bumped his team-leading total to nine on the season and moved him into sixth all-time in club history with 22 goals scored in his Hounds career.

The Reading, Pennsylvania native is only one goal away from tying the club record for most goals scored by a U.S.-born player and has now been named to Team of the Week three times this season, including Player of the Week this past March.

Hertzog’s first goal of the match came via a free kick from about 30 yards out. Lining up alongside Romeo Parkes, Hertzog delivered a beautiful, pinpoint shot into the upper-left corner of the goal to knot the score at one in the 47th minute.

He would put the Hounds ahead for good after being fouled by Saint Louis goalkeeper Adam Grinwis in the box to draw a penalty. The forward wasted no time, calmly ticketing his penalty take in the center of goal in the 73rd minute for his fourth multi-goal effort of his Hounds career and second this season.

Hertzog and the Hounds (7-8-9) will look to continue their push for a playoff spot, next hosting Bethlehem Steel FC (10-10-3) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Highmark Stadium.
