Veteran brings versatility, experience to back line

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced on Tuesday the club had signed defender Hunter Gorskie for the remainder of the USL season. The signing is pending ITC clearance and league approval. Per club and league policy, further contract details were not disclosed.

Gorskie, a versatile defender, most recently played for Miedź Legnica in Poland’s second division. Born in New York City, he represented his hometown New York Cosmos from 2013 to 2015 before moving to Poland for two seasons.

“We’re happy to have signed Hunter,” Rowdies Head Coach Stuart Campbell said. “We needed another defender to round out our squad and we’re delighted that Hunter was available. He’s a quality defender that adds a lot to our group.”

Gorskie is naturally a central defender, but he can play anywhere along the back line. He made 54 appearances in all competitions in his three seasons with the Cosmos, helping them to win two league championships. He also scored the winning penalty kick in a marquee Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup win against New York City FC in 2015.
