Nashville's professional soccer team, Nashville SC, kicks off in March 2018

NASHVILLE (Aug. 23, 2017) – Nashville’s professional soccer team, Nashville Soccer Club (Nashville SC), announced it will play home games at First Tennessee Park in its inaugural season competing in the United Soccer League (USL), which kicks off March 2018.

“There is a tremendous amount of local excitement for soccer, and I’m happy to see support continuing to build for our professional club, Nashville SC, which will be calling First Tennessee Park home for its inaugural season,” said Mayor Megan Barry. “I look forward to wearing the colors and cheering on Nashville SC as they make their mark in the community.”

The announcement comes on the heels of a successful summer of soccer, as more than 100,000 fans came to two matches held at Nissan Stadium in July. The USL is the highest level of professional soccer in the state of Tennessee and second in the United States only to Major League Soccer (MLS).

“We are happy that Nashville SC and our fans will call First Tennessee Park home next season,” said John Ingram, majority owner of Nashville SC. “This first-class facility will provide fans an intimate viewing experience to match the first-class players on the field next year. This partnership represents the growing support for professional soccer in this city, demonstrating that Music City is Soccer City.”

“Nashville SC will be a fantastic partner, and we’re excited to welcome them to our home,” said Adam Nuse, general manager and chief operating officer of the Nashville Sounds. “This mutually beneficial partnership will help both of our franchises as we continue to grow and flourish in our great city. The Sounds are supporters, not just of Nashville SC, but of our city and the sport of soccer."

To convert First Tennessee Park into a soccer field, the first base line will form one sideline with the other extending though the outfield.  The third base line will serve as one end line with the other near the right field wall.  The infield's dirt will be replace by grass for soccer matches.

"First Tennessee Park is a world-class facility that is in year three. It had all the amenities that we needed: the right size, the right number of luxury suites and hospitality areas, and the right location," said Court Jeske, CEO of Nashville SC.
