Toros look to build on late equalizer as WFC2 visits

  • Rio Grande Valley grabbed a 1-1 draw against Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday night as Ivan Magalhaes scored in stoppage to level for the hosts at H-E-B Park.

  • The draw extended the Toros’ undefeated streak to three games, but kept the side three points back in the race for the postseason as the weekend begins.

  • The Toros have recorded the fewest yellow cards in the USL this season with 27, but are tied for fourth in the league with three red cards.

  • Magalhaes leads the Toros in minutes played this season with 1,980 minutes of action, having played in all-but-one of the team’s games this season.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 news and notes

  • WFC2 fell 3-0 to Seattle Sounders FC 2 last Sunday as its winless streak reached 11 games, leaving the side 14th in the Western Conference.

  • Vancouver has lost three of its last four games, and will be without New Zealand forward Myer Bevan on Saturday due to suspension after his red card against S2.

  • WFC2 has yet to score from outside the penalty area this season, with all 23 of its goals coming from inside the 18-yard area.
