Energy FC hosts SAFC with both clubs looking to rebound

OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC and San Antonio FC will both look to rebound from defeats in their last outings when they meet at Taft Stadium on Saturday night for the third and final time in the regular season, with Energy FC looking to bounce back into the playoff positions in the Western Conference. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 8-9-5, 29pts

  • Energy FC fell 2-1 to Tulsa Roughnecks FC last Saturday night at ONEOK Field as its cross-state rival claimed the Black Gold Derby for the first time in three seasons.

  • Jose Angulo scored on a penalty kick early in the season half, and has now scored four goals in six games since arriving on loan with Energy FC.

  • OKC announced on Friday it had signed Welsh forward Jonathan Brown to its squad, a former player for the Wales U21 National Team.

  • Energy FC fell to ninth place in the Western Conference standings on Thursday night after Seattle Sounders FC 2 took a 2-1 victory against the Portland Timbers 2 to jump into eighth.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 11-2-8, 41pts

  • San Antonio fell for only the second time this season last Saturday as Reno 1868 FC scored a 2-0 victory at Greater Nevada Field.

  • Second-place SAFC is now 10 points behind Real Monarchs SLC in the Western Conference standings with 11 games to play in the regular season.

  • SAFC announces on Thursday the club had acquired Jamaican international Owayne Gordon on loan for the remainder of the season. Gordon featured for Jamaica in its run to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final.

  • San Antonio has won only one of its last five games, going 1-3-1 over that span.
