Sacramento Republic FC return home when they host Reno 1868 FC on Saturday, Aug. 19.  Kickoff is 8 p.m. at Papa Murphy’s Park. The match will be broadcast on CW31. Tickets are available at SacRepublicFC.com.

The match is the second of three USL meetings between the rivals this season, with the two also meeting once in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.  Republic FC won the Open Cup match 2-0 at Papa Murphy’s Park on May 31. Reno 1868 FC won 2-0 in the clubs’ lone USL meeting on Jun. 10.

Republic FC enter the match on a seven-match unbeaten streak after their 1-0 win over Portland Timbers 2 on Sunday, Aug. 13.  The win was the club’s third straight and their third consecutive shutout. Republic FC currently hold a 329-minute shutout streak, their longest streak of the season.

Forward Wilson Kneeshaw scored the lone goal in Republic FC’s win on Sunday, his fourth of the season.  The forward has now scored four goals and added four assists on the season.  Kneeshaw and fellow forwards Sammy Ochoa, Trevin Caesar and Tyler Blackwood have combined for 20 goals and 12 assists this season.

Newly signed forward Matt Wiesenfarth and midfielder Hayden Partain both made their first career Republic FC starts on Sunday.  Both made their presence known, with Wiesenfarth recording the assist on Kneeshaw’s goal and Partain contributing both offensively and defensively in his 90-minute shift.

Reno 1868 FC come into the match having lost just one of their last nine matches, following their 2-0 win over San Antonio FC on Aug. 12.  During this stretch, Reno have outscored their opponents 22-6, a rate of just 0.67 goals against per match, while scoring 2.4 goals per match.

Reno have scored 51 goals this season, the highest number of goals of any professional team in the United States.  A large part of this scoring has come from the USL co-leading scorer Dane Kelly.  The forward has 15 goals and three assists on the season.  Kelly, the USL’s all-time leading scorer, joined Reno during the offseason after playing last season with Swope Park Rangers.

Midfielder Chris Wehan has also been important to Reno’s attack, recording eight assists and four goals on the season.  Wehan is tied for the USL lead in assists on the season. The midfielder is in his rookie season after playing the last four years at the University of New Mexico where he scored 31 goals and added eight assists in 80 career appearances.
